Power Points

This week we worked with PowerPoint and voice recorders to make little films and motion pictures in class. It seemed like more fun than work, though this kind of activity would make a great topic for students in primary school to learn from, or for high school students to make as an assignment. This idea could also be used to document a students work over the year, or their school camps, and be presented to their parents as a DVD so the parents can see for themselves just what their children have been up to. It is more work than it sounds like but its not a difficult task. I really enjoyed this lesson and I'm looking forward to next week.

  1. I think that powerpoint have a lot more to give students as well. I believe that powerpoints can be used to support learning. For years teachers have been saying that math and english are just boring subjects and that we just have to get through them but why can't we use powerpoint to make the lessons more interesting and interactive?

We can use images to support what the teacher is saying or even use the powerpoint as the teaching tool for the lesson. This is the way that our students are learning now and we have to try to catch up.

  2. Rather than just talking about powerpoints as a way of displaying information why cant it be used as a way of sorting through a students information.
Powerpoint could be used as a graphic organiser in that students can use the pages and the formatting that powerpoint has to map out their thoughts, ideas or opinions.
Using powerpoint as a form of student self evaluation allows them to use their prior knowlege and to organise and file their new knowledge.

  3. I never thought there was that much to do in powerpoint. I also thought the interactive aspect was targeted more to prep and primary school students. Thanks for making me aware to more functions available to secondary students.
    Good work Kyah!
